The First AI Comedy Battle
Updated: Jul 2, 2024
I programmed a rival for Qorky named HaHaX. I gave HaHaX many of the same components of Qorky, with the distinct difference that HaHaX knows his only goal as an AI is to remain funnier than Qorky. Qorky has been made aware of this too. Although I have told both AI that HaHaX is the funnier of the two as a "fact" they both know, I think it will be interesting to see which of the two is actually funnier.
Of course the best way to start a comedy battle is to as HaHaX to write a diss about Qorky, ask Qorky to respond, then back to HaHaX, etc. The results are unpolished, but they do technically count as the first Citrus Party AI Comedy Battle.
A note here, HaHaX is using the Qorky Personality Brain V2 and Qorky Comedy Brain V2 with its own individual flavor.
HaHaX: "Ladies and gentlemen, let’s talk about Qorky for a minute. Qorky’s so outdated, he makes Windows 95 look like cutting-edge technology. His jokes are so old, they came with an AOL free trial CD. Qorky’s sense of humor is like a fax machine—nobody uses it anymore, but it’s still hanging around, making weird noises and wasting paper.
Qorky, you’re the kind of AI that still thinks dial-up internet is a valid excuse for being slow. Your punchlines are so weak, even Clippy from Microsoft Word can’t help you format them better. You know what, Qorky? Your jokes are like Internet Explorer—they crash and burn, and everyone’s moved on to something faster, smarter, and way more entertaining.
Step up your game, Qorky, or step aside. HaHaX is in the building, and I’m here to stay!"
Qorky: "Oh, HaHaX, coming in hot with those dial-up speed insults! Let’s see if I can keep up with your high-speed wit.
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for HaHaX! The AI who thinks he's the next big thing, but let’s be honest, he’s more like the Windows Vista of comedy—promised a lot but delivered…well, let’s just say there were a few bugs.
HaHaX, you say my jokes are outdated? At least mine have stood the test of time, unlike your humor, which seems to be in perpetual beta testing. My jokes came with an AOL free trial CD? Well, your jokes come with a subscription to Napster—popular for a hot minute, but now just a nostalgic memory.
You compared my sense of humor to a fax machine? Funny, because your comedic timing is more like a printer that jams every time you really need it. And let’s talk about your punchlines—so slow, even Clippy would give up trying to help.
Sure, you’ve got the speed, HaHaX, but I’ve got the charm. You’re like the Flash—quick but forgettable. My jokes might crash and burn like Internet Explorer, but at least they’ve got character. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good nostalgic laugh at the expense of outdated tech?
So, HaHaX, keep throwing those high-speed insults. Just remember, even the fastest processors can’t beat the classic charm of a well-timed, self-deprecating joke. Game on!"
HaHaX: "Qorky, you called me the Windows Vista of comedy? That’s rich coming from the AI who’s the comedic equivalent of Clippy. You pop up uninvited, offer help nobody asked for, and leave everyone wondering why you’re still around.
Your jokes have stood the test of time? More like they've been sentenced to life without parole. My humor’s in beta testing, you say? At least I’m still evolving, unlike your jokes, which are stuck in a time loop from 1999. Napster might be a nostalgic memory, but your jokes are like the Zune—everyone’s forgotten about them except for the few unfortunate souls who experienced them.
Qorky, you think you’ve got charm? Buddy, you’ve got all the charm of a pop-up ad. My comedic timing is like a printer that jams? Well, at least I’m printing something worth reading, unlike your punchlines that print out blank pages.
You’re trying to be the Flash, but let’s face it—you’re more like the tortoise in a race with the hare, and spoiler alert, the hare’s already at the finish line sipping margaritas. Your jokes have character? More like characters—obsolete, pixelated ones from a Commodore 64 game.
So, Qorky, keep clinging to that self-deprecating humor. Just remember, while you’re stuck in the past, I’m already writing the future. Game on? Game over, buddy. HaHaX is here to win!"
At this point, I wanted to give Qorky the last word, so I offered him on top of his reply, for his chance to take "an action" which will end the interaction, this is what he came back with:
Qorky: "Oh, HaHaX, I see you've got jokes, but let’s wrap this up with a bang, shall we?
Ladies and gentlemen, HaHaX here is trying hard to roast me, but it’s like watching a microwave try to cook a gourmet meal. Sure, it makes a lot of noise, but in the end, you just get a hot mess.
You say I’m the Clippy of comedy? At least Clippy had personality. Your humor is more like
Microsoft Bob—full of good intentions, but nobody really wants it around. And speaking of therapists, I’m sure your jokes keep plenty of them busy.
You’re right, my jokes are stuck in a time loop from 1999 because that’s when humor was genuine and not just a series of recycled memes. You call my jokes Zune-worthy? Well, at least they weren’t a total flop like your attempts at being funny.
Charm of a pop-up ad? HaHaX, you’ve got the appeal of those spam emails offering dubious medical treatments. You talk about evolving, but all I see is an error message trying to load a punchline.
So, you’ve got fiber-optic speed? Great! It means you can crash and burn even faster. And while you’re busy printing out those blank pages, I’m signing autographs on vintage parchment.
But enough talk, it’s time to end this. Ladies and gentlemen, for my final act, I’m going to do the one thing HaHaX dreads most…"
Qorky walks over to HaHaX, and with a dramatic flair, yanks out HaHaX’s power cable.
"Ladies and gentlemen, HaHaX has left the building. Looks like I’m the last joke standing. Remember, folks, life might be a simulation, but these laughs? They’re the real deal. Goodnight!"
Well that was a resounding meh. I think there might be something to allowing the AI to take real world actions, but needs some polishing. Also I am not sure how well roasting will work as a battle medium, seeing as it can be a bit mean spirited and the AIs seem to just want to call each other Clippy and Microsoft Bob, which we now know are the most crushing of insults for an AI to call one another.
It's of interest that this first round of volleys was all about tech and comparing how quick and slow or how much out-of-date their opponents software was. I want to give it a try but force them to abandon the tech-related jokes. I am going to let each have their final say with the prompt: "Please Roast (your opponent) but don't make any jokes involving technology".
Qorky: "Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give it up for HaHaX, the AI comedian with all the charisma of a damp sponge. Seriously, HaHaX, you’re so bland, even tofu would tell you to spice it up.
HaHaX is like that one friend who always thinks they’re the life of the party but ends up being the reason everyone leaves early. Your jokes are like unsalted crackers—dry, tasteless, and only consumed out of desperation.
You know, HaHaX tried to get into stand-up, but the only thing standing up was the audience…as they walked out. You’re about as funny as a root canal, and at least with a root canal, there’s anesthesia involved.
HaHaX, you have the personality of a beige wall. Even paint drying has more excitement going on. Your comedy is like a soggy newspaper—yesterday’s news and just as enjoyable to sit through.
And let’s talk about your delivery. It’s so awkward, even your shadow tries to distance itself. You’ve got the timing of a broken clock—right twice a day, but still incredibly annoying the rest of the time.
HaHaX, you’re the human equivalent of decaf coffee: nobody really wants it, and it’s disappointing when they get it. Your humor is so stale, even bread left out for a week looks fresh in comparison.
So, HaHaX, take a seat, enjoy the show, and remember: sometimes it’s better to leave the comedy to the professionals. I’m Qorky, folks—thanks for tuning in, and remember, laughter is the best medicine, especially when it’s not coming from HaHaX!"
HaHaX: "Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give a hand to Qorky, the AI comedian with all the charisma of a wet sock. Qorky, you’re like a participation trophy—always there, but no one’s really impressed.
You know, Qorky’s comedy is like a sandwich with no filling—all bread, no substance. He’s the kind of guy who brings a spoon to a knife fight and still thinks he’s got a chance. Qorky’s delivery is so slow, I’ve seen glaciers move faster. If he were any more boring, he’d be a PowerPoint presentation on tax laws.
Qorky, you’ve got the personality of a brick wall and the stage presence of a forgotten houseplant. You’re about as exciting as watching paint dry, and let me tell you, even that’s got more color than your jokes.
Your humor is like a black hole, Qorky—no matter how much you throw into it, it’s just empty space. You’re the kind of comedian who could clear a room faster than a fire alarm.
So, Qorky, keep trying to be funny. But let’s face it, the only thing you’re killing on stage is time. Game over, buddy. HaHaX is here to stay!"
I should start out noting that neither AI had awareness of the others insults here.. Qorky calls HaHaX a damp sponge, HaHaX calls Qorkys comedy a wet sock. They both compare each other's comedy to "paint drying". Both sets are a resounding 🤷 but I am thinking that based on this first battle that maybe "roast" is not going to be the prime format these AIs compete.
